The bad: I don’t really have anything bad to say, It’s free and to the point. I would like to see more like the Panel slide.

I can time how long I want the wipe to be and what color the wipe bar should be as well.

The second that you install this transition it just makes sense. I don’t have a whole lot of questions, I intuitively understand how it works and it’s to the point. Just drag, drop, change the color and your done. Like I said before: “in most cases simple is better.” In my opinion FCPEffects created a product that I like and easily can see myself using on future projects

Replica TopGear FCPX Transitions

HyGear is a suite of 22 super-cool transitions for FCPX that replicate the look used by the editors of the BBC TopGear programme. This set of transitions replicate those used in series 17 and 18 of the programme during 2011 to 2012.

Most of these transitions are standalone pieces of artwork and are uniquely created.

Most of these transitions require that you apply them without altering their duration to get the full effect. Four of the effects are variable and their duration can be extended or contracted to fit around your edit.
Each icon has the fixed or variable nature of the transition displayed as well as the number of frames that each transition is programmed with.
Just drag and drop the transition onto your edit and it will default to the correct duration. If the transition is variable, then you can edit the length afterwards. Experiment for different effects!

The bad: Not being able to alter the duration on most of the transitions could be hindering to creativity. I need the transition to be altered for my projects needs not the other way around.

The good: To my knowledge, this is the first of it’s kind, a generator as opposed to heavy composite footage. Prosmoke 2 is realistic and produces nice results.
The bad: Adjusting the speed of the smoke is limited by the customization options. You must stretch the generator in FCPX in order to get the speed you want.
Overall: Prosmoke 2 is an excellent plugin that will certainly fill your need for smoke.

GLOBAL PICKER

Click the Global swatch to bring up the Mac OS X Color Picker. Use the picker tool (the magnifying glass) to select an area of your shot in the FCP X viewer that you would expect to be anything from white to gray as long as it was originally meant to be monochrome. If there is an area that is not white but you would like to turn white, then it’s a good idea to pick this as a reference point.

WHITE PICKER

Borders comes with style options, build animations and blend modes. It also has an Auto-Fit function that keeps the border from overlapping your footage.

BLACK PICKER

Click the Black swatch to bring up the Mac OS X Color Picker. Use the picker tool (the magnifying glass) to select an area of your shot in the FCP X viewer that you would expect to be black.

CORRECTION METHOD

AutoGrade uses a white balance correction method that produces smoother, more lifelike, more optically pleasing results, but if you would like to compare them with the more mathematically correct method, simply select RGB Scaling from the Method drop-down menu.

LEGALIZE

enable the legalize checkbox to clamp the signal to broadcast levels. It is best practice not to enable this until you have finalised your shot to avoid unnecessary clipping of the values.

Simply drag and drop one of eight variations on your transition point and adjust the colors if desired. There could not be an easier way to make magnificent transitions.

INSTALLATION

To install, locate and double-click the Chrome Rings 3D installer. After installation, Chrome Rings 3D will be located in your FCPX Transitions Browser after you restart FCPX.

APPLYING A TRANSITION

To apply one of the eight transitions, select Tangent FX | 3D Ring Wipes in the Transition Browser. Select one of the eight predesigned transitions, and then drag & drop it on your transition point.

ADJUSTING THE TRANSITIONS

Each transition has control over color of the rings and the flare elements. Ring Highlight tints the highlights (lighter colors) of the rings. Ring Shadow tints the shadows (darker areas) of the rings. Flare Tint allows for color control of the flare hits that occur during the transition.

Lower Pop Plugin for FCPX from Fx Factory

Lower Pop is 20 Final Cut Pro X lower third titles designed for HD (16:9 aspect ratio).

EDITING TEXT

You can select text in the canvas. If you select one of the text fields you can edit its properties. If you haven’t selected any text field then you’ll edit properties for all text fields at the same time. Because of this, some properties may be greyed out.

MOVING TEXT

To move text simply click and drag on a text field.

RIBBONS

When you change the accent (stitches or borders) color it may take a moment for it to update. Try moving the playhead to see the changes. This happens because the accent colors are linked together.

ORGANIZATION

Parameters are grouped together and divided into sections by dashed divider lines and pop-up menus.

The good: There are 20 high quality lower thirds that have a lot of customization.

The bad: Although the quality of this plugin is great, I believe that the price is a little steep for being $49.

The bad: Can be a little chaotic if the transition is short.

Overall: A great pack of transitions that really distort the footage that they are placed in between, giving any film maker a valuable tool for strong and stylized clip transitions.

Designed for the Final Cut Pro X platform, LightPath Transitions consists of 20 different pre-designed elements that you can drag and drop on any transition point, adjust the length and GO! Like all of the FCPX transitions that Tangent FX designs, we put the priority in the design and aesthetic.

APPLYING A TRANSITION

To apply one of the 20 transitions, select Tangent FX | LightPaths in the Transition Browser. Select one of the 20 predesigned transitions, and then drag & drop it on your transition point.

ADJUSTING A TRANSITION

Simply put, there are no parameters to control aside from controlling the length in your timeline. We recommend 2-3 seconds in duration as a transition length.

FCPXLAND’S REVIEW

The good: For the price of $19 for 20 lightpath transitions this plugin is definitely worth the money.

The bad: There are no published parameters for any of the transitions. It would have been nice to alter the colors or width of each transition.

Overall: Overall $19 is a very good price for this plugin, however you are left with no customization what so ever.
